Legend of the Arabian

And God, (praise be unto Him) when he desired to create the horse (faras), summoned forth the South Wind, which the people of Egypt call El Marees, saying, "I shall create from thy substance a new being which shall be good fortune unto my followers and humiliation to my enemies. Condense thyself."  And the wind condensed itself. And God (PBUH) created therefrom an Arab horse, and said "I create thee oh Arabian.  To thy forelock I bind victory in battle.  On thy back I set a rich spoil, and a treasure in thy loins.  I establish thee as one of the glories of the Earth.  I give thee flight without wings!!"

Bravo needs a balanced, experienced rider with educated hands. He is not too light off the leg, however on the very rare occasions that he is spooked or clips himself he breaks into a canter that an experienced rider can quickly and easily bring him back from.  This could intimidate a novice.

Bravo lives up to his name when he has security, consistency, a job he can do, and one specific person to trust and bond with he can look to for leadership as a central anchor.

Bravo was abandoned as a weanling and rescued by a neighbor who had a broodmare. From ages 3 to 5 he had several different trainers, and a novice trail rider.  By the time we rescued him again at age 5 he was too skinny to ride and was recovering from heat founder standing in a small dirt pen with no shade.

Bravo has no rated show experience.  He was shown as a youngster Western Pleasure at schooling shows, and in our in-barn schooling shows Hunter Under Saddle, Dressage Introductory and First Level, and Youth Halter Showmanship.

Bravo was started over ground poles, cavalletti and low crossrails. He conditions very well, and is especially good with other horses on a hack outside the ring. He has been ridden around a 20 acre training facility alone extensively, both under saddle and with a bareback pad.

Bravo goes in a snaffle or a KK, and accepts a jointed or mullen Pelham. Bravo cannot wear a ported bit due to permanent damage to the roof of his mouth when he was young by a spade or cathedral bit.  Bravo has worked consistently on the ground in a Pessoa, and accepts draw reins.

Bravo adores his people, and nickers to everyone. Bravo likes to do carrot stretches, and play with his highway cone.  He gets along with other horses in turnout and in the ring.

Bravo would probably do well on a small ranch or out in the country.  So, if you are an experienced Arabian lover, maybe you can be the "Wind Beneath His Wings."
